    Composting addiction

My name is Beulah and I am a compostaholic........

I would feel so much better if someone else would admit that they have ever:

    1. Poked through the garbage to find raw produce scraps.

    2. Brought their banana peel home from the office.

    3. Bought more lettuce than needed, figuring if it doesn't feed people it'll feed the garden.

    4. Plan to make vegetable soup, just for the compost material.

    5. Walk across the yard with just one handful of leaves for the compost pile.

    6. Been tempted to collect rotting jack-o-lanterns in the neighborhood.

    ANYONE..........ANYONE.....??

I can admit to 5 of 6 of the listed quite obvious compostaholic characteristics. My husband and children are now all scared to throw anything away without first checking with me to see if it can go in the 'pot', they so lovingly named it.

    Re: Composting addiction

There's really nothing better than good compost when it comes to prepping flower beds. It's my Secret Ingredient to the success of new plantings. (along with bagged manure - but that's another matter) I think if you have the space it's almost a must. Why would you put all your biodegradable compost ingredients into a landfill when you could recycle them into your landscape?

    Re: Composting addiction

Have you tried/heard of rigging up a "bar" sink with a garbage disposer that went directly to the compost pile? It would be dedicated to just official compostable materials. Surely we would be breaking some states plumbing code if some states get excited over gray water use? Thanks. thymetogarden
